Hello World!

Hello World! I guess I should start off with a little bit about myself… Well for starters, My name is Paige Nicole Schmit (Welcome to my blog :)). I'm currently studying biology at the University of Nebraska! GBR! I'm a new member of Chi Omega and have met some of the greatest people here, but more on that later.

I'm new to this huge blogging thing so I apologize if its a little rough at first. For example, I can't seem to be able to edit my about me column… So I decided I'll let you know here (the extended version, of course).

  1. I personally don't think there are three constant words that describe me. I feel as if I'm a constantly different person everyday (and I don't mean it in an I'm a bipolar way). Its hard to explain. For instance, somedays I'm overly wild and crazy while the next I can be completely calm. Sometimes you need those days to just let loose, without a care in the world. I personally LOVE those days.
  2. I've discovered I have a HUGE LOVE for traveling. So far in my life I've been to Mexico (and no, it wasn't for a spring break trip), Jamaica, the Grand Cayman Islands, Belize, and Berlin! Not only have I had the best experiences of my life, I also had the opportunity to meet amazing people with even more amazing stories. I can't say how grateful I am to have been able to have these experiences in my life. This summer I'm traveling to Haiti to help in the earthquake efforts… I can't want to see what is in store for me. MY WORDS OF WISDOM FOR YOU, MY FRIEND: LIFE IS AN ADVENTURE….. GO DO, GO EXPLORE!
  3. My family is everything to me. Without them I don't know what I would be doing right now with my life. Nor do I know what would have become of me. While yes, we do have our disagreements and are by no means perfect… in my eyes I have the best, the most perfect family someone could ask for. I have a strongly devoted mother, one whom I love very much. She is my rock but sometimes I'll admit, I want to throw that rock at her… I have never seen someone so devoted to everything she does (We're actually trying to teach her the word no…she'll catch on). Then there is my father. The one and only constant man in my life. We are quite similar which doesn't really work out the best for us. We have a lot of ups and downs (mostly downs) but that by no means says I don't love him. With this year being my first year all on my own, I've actually come to appreciate him a lot more. I also have an older sister, Courtney, who is completely the opposite from me. Night and Day as my mom likes to call us. Although we have our differences and rarely see eye to eye on any subject, I still love her and value her opinion…sometimes. We're always going to be there for each other that I know. We also have a horse…. his name is Tyson and he is my puppy Saint Bernard. Well to be honest he isn't really a puppy and probably weighs a lot more than I do. He is the perfect size to rest his head on the dinning room table and boy does he know it. It makes for some pretty interesting dinners as Dad doesn't approve! We spoil him rotten by giving him chicken and ham and my mothers breakfast everyday (this is on top of his dog food)! He also sometimes gets two walks a day!
  4. In college, I'm trying to find out for sure who exactly I am. I've come in, like everyone else, with an idea of who I think I am and who exactly I want to be. In all honesty, I think its a bunch of bologna if people don't think they are going to change in college or know 100% of who they are and who they want to be. You don't! College is a time for change, to meet the people that are going to test you to be the best you can be, who can be real with you. Its a time to stand up for what you believe in and to found out what that actually is. Its a time to make a few mistakes (reasonable ones) and learn from them! That is what life is about! Thats how you discover and know who you are.
Thats a little about me. I'm sure we're going to get to know each other a lot more over the years.

I'd also like to explain why my blog is called what it is. I was in a musical my eighth grade year called Help Wanted. It was written by a friend of mine named Kathy Burdette, someone who I personally admire and stave to be like. She co-wrote (or wrote, not quite sure) a song called Everyday Miracles. In this song, she explains how the simplest of blessings that happen everyday are often over looked. Those simplest of blessings you miss everyday are everyday miracles. For some reason, its just sticked.

"In the simplest of blessings you miss everyday, You can capture a glimpse of God's grace."

What I want you to do is find those everyday miracles, those simplest of blessings… Until you see how blessed you are on a day to day basis, you never know how truly blessed you are. Until next time my friends ...
